I completed the Scottish Patient Safety Fellowship in 2011 and as a result have an interest in quality improvement as well as clinical governance and patient safety. Particular interests are: medicines safety/prescribing, recognition and response to the deteriorating patient, sepsis, delirium, frailty and human factors. I am also the secretary of the Society of Acute Medicine (Scotland) and am involved in collaborative research through this group for example; ambulatory care pathways/admission avoidance, GP referral variation and point of care diagnostics.
