Rainbow Boxes

Being ill with COVID-19 in hospital can be an isolating experience.

Without family visits it is easy for patients to run out of night clothes, toiletries, or be left without things they simply left at home such as phone chargers. Alison Williams from the EMERGE Research group quickly recognised this problem and started the Rainbow Boxes fund raising page. The charity reached £15000 in 24 hours and has since continued to grow, including a generous donation of £25000 from the Royal Bank of Scotland. The charity supplies wards across Lothian hospitals with colourful cabinets full of much needed clothes and toiletries. The charity also supplies patients with iPads to help the patients keep in touch with friends and family during their stay in hospital.
