Professor Manu Shankar-Hari

I will be starting as Chair of Translational Critical Care Medicine at CIR in February 2022, moving up to Edinburgh from King's College London.

I am a clinician scientist. I trained in Intensive Care Medicine in London. My research training included MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and PhD in lymphocyte biology at the Peter Gorer Department of Immunobiology at King’s College London, UK.

My research programme aims to enable precision immunomodulation in critically ill adults. The immunobiology focus of my lab is to identify modifiable biological networks within the phenotypic and molecular changes in lymphocytes during critical illness and enduring changes following recovery from critical illness.
