Maiden| Mother| Whore Interactive exhibition & Panel discussions

Drawing on women's embodied experiences and narratives, this performance/exhibition delves into the tensions between individuals-collectives, agency-power, and patterns of oppression-resistance through the lens of Transnational Intersectional Feminism.

Developed in 2023 to a 90-minute durational performance, this collaborative project has emerged from a creative partnership between Theiya Arts Dance Collective and academics from the Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society at The University of Edinburgh towards opening a dialogue between the academic community, artistic community, and audience and was supported by The National Lottery Fund, Creative Scotland and Dance Base, Edinburgh. The immersive exhibition will feature photos, excerpts, music and other artefacts from the performance and feature a discussion between the artists and academics, as well as space for the audience to engage in conversation with the performers and other related activities. The event will feature a 90 minute (interactive) performance and a 30 minute panel discussion.

This event is part of a series of events that the Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society is running as part of the Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 7–16 November 2024. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, with generous support from Research England, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
