Doing Disability Futures have just launched their new website and are recruiting community participants for the first phase of creative workshops. Doing Disability Futures is a British Academy Knowledge Frontiers project and a collaboration led by Dr Donna McCormack (Strathclyde University) with co-lead Dr Ingrid Young (University of Edinburgh), alongside colleagues from Strathclyde University, Stavanger University (Norway) and Stockholm University (Sweden) which draws on interdisciplinary, speculative and creative methods to imagine a future that centres disability justice. This British Academy-funded research project uses speculative and arts-based methods to address histories of colonial violence and ongoing injustices while storytelling alternative futures, disrupting existing knowledges, and challenging power hierarchies. It will put disability justice into practice by having disabled people lead this programme, share strategies of survival and resistance, and collaborate with disabled artists and marginalised communities.
