Swansea University is offering a fully funded PhD studentship, supported by Health Data Research UK (HDR UK), to investigate how indoor air quality in schools influences asthma and educational outcomes in children and young people. The project will train the successful candidate in epidemiology, public health research methods, and population data science, with access to cutting-edge UK-wide datasets, including the SAIL Databank, deprivation measures, and modelled air quality data. The research will also explore how socioeconomic inequalities shape health and educational outcomes, linking insights to policy and practice.Supervised by Professor Gwyneth Davies, Professor Rich Fry (Swansea University), and Professor Jenni Quint (Imperial College London), the student will join the HDR UK Inflammation and Immunity Driver Programme and benefit from a highly interdisciplinary research environment, national training opportunities, and collaboration across the UK.This PhD will contribute to understanding how school environments can support children’s health and learning, particularly as buildings are adapted to meet net zero targets.Open to: UK applicants onlyStart date: 1 October 2025 (with possible flexibility)Study mode: Full-time or part-timePlace of study: Swansea UniversityProgramme: PhD in Population and Health Data Science Click here to learn more and apply Closing date: 03 September 2025 Publication date 19 Aug, 2025
