Our innovative thinking, world-class research and teaching and strong strategic partnerships help to shape and inform advances in health and care across the globe. Large scale data, large scale impact At Usher, we use routinely collected large-scale data, making health and care research more efficient and effective. Clinical trials and cohort studies We are home to the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit. We lead large cohort studies, and engage and support volunteers who enroll in our research studies. Public perspectives, ethics & integrity Public trust is paramount to health data research. We work together with the public and across disciplinary boundaries to ensure a focus on responsible and ethical use of data and real-world validity. Collaborating across disciplines Our vibrant, multi-disciplinary environment brings together expertise across fields including artificial intelligence and machine learning alongside social science, public health and clinical understanding. Enhancing population health Grounded in our public and population health roots, we inform policy and practice to improve health outcomes. Strengthening global health Together with partners around the world, we build a better understanding of the global burden of disease, support decision-making and the cost-effective delivery of treatments. Amplifying clinical connections We connect with practitioners to drive research and innovation that translates into practice. We manage our own general practice here in Edinburgh. Accelerating innovation We develop scalable solutions in partnerships between clinical, academic and entrepreneurial colleagues that transform health and care outcomes.
