Developing the IMP²ART intervention

The IMP²ART team has developed the components of the IMP²ART implementation strategy to help general practices across the UK to embed supported self-management into routine asthma care.

The team includes GPs, asthma nurses, health psychologists, educationalists and researchers.

We have identified information that people with asthma might find useful.  They come from many sources, but some key resources are from Asthma UK.  Since the coronavirus pandemic we have added information about asthma and COVID-19.

Working with Education for Health we have developed two educational modules. One module will be delivered by a facilitator in a whole team meeting; the other is on-line learning for the person in the practice who provides the asthma reviews - often the practice nurse.

We have also developed ways to help practices prioritise self-management in their asthma care.  For example, we have developed a patient-centred template for the asthma nurse to use in reviews.

We-have added links to information about asthma and COVID-19 for patients, as well how to make the most of remote consultations.
