We are a group of epidemiologists with active links with clinicians, virologists, infectious disease and evolutionary/transmission dynamics modelers.
Aims
We aim to:
- develop robust disease burden estimates for all-cause and viral etiology associated pneumonia / acute lower respiratory infections in populations (especially young children)
- understand the longer term effects of disease caused by respiratory viruses
- utilize available evidence to inform policy making on the control of respiratory infections.
We have developed the first (and most widely cited and accepted) global disease burden estimates for pneumonia, RSV and influenza in young children (aged less than 5 years). We are currently working on developing the global disease burden estimates for pneumonia and RSV in older adults (aged over 65 years).
