Aims

GRIT is an inter-disciplinary research group which includes members from the three Colleges at the University of Edinburgh. GRIT’s mission is to promote research in tobacco control in order to develop understanding of the determinants of smoking uptake and cessation and, in particular, inequalities in these determinants. 

People

GRIT's members have a range of disciplinary back grounds including health policy, health promotion, geography, political science, social marketing, sociology, social epidemiology and social policy.

Research Activities

Members of GRIT are involved in a diverse range of tobacco control research and its dissemination.

UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies

GRIT is a part of the UK Centre for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies (UKCTAS). UKCTAS is a network of 13 universities funded by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration.
