Section 3: General Learning Resources

For those curious about how AI works broadly and its basic principles, we’ve gathered a list of free and accessible learning resources of AI for you.

BR-UK has run a series of three webinars on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in behavioural research: Using Artificial Intelligence to improve Behavioural Research, Using Analytic AI to improve Behavioural Research and Responsible use of AI in behavioural research.

Offered by the University of Helsinki and MinnaLearn, this course aims to demystify AI through theoretical and practical exercises. It's designed for individuals without prior programming experience and is available in multiple languages.

Developed by Microsoft, this 12-week, 24-lesson curriculum provides an introduction to AI. It includes practical lessons, quizzes, and labs to reinforce learning.

Google offers a range of courses covering machine learning and AI fundamentals for every skill level. These courses are designed to help learners understand and deploy AI technologies effectively.

Khan Academy offers a 3-unit course on genAI for teaching and learning, aiming to answer questions like “what is generative AI and how does it work”, and “what are some best practices for teaching and learning with generative AI”. This might come particularly handy for behavioural researchers in their teaching roles.

IBM SkillsBuild offers a series of online lectures introducing aritificial intelligence, generative AI and AI ethics.

There are also accessible educational videos on Youtube

Andy Stapleton is a YouTube channel designed to assist academics, particularly PhD students and early-career researchers, in navigating the complexities of academia and integrating AI into their workflows.

WiseUp communications offers practical guidance on research writing, presentations, and some videos on leveraging AI tools for academic purposes.

Prof. David Stuckler’s channel also discusses the use of AI in academic research processes, focusing on maintaining academic integrity while leveraging AI for tasks like literature reviews.

Dr. Phillip Adu’s channel focuses on using AI tools to empower qualitative and quantitative research methods.
