IMPACT AWARD for Team culture
Evropi Theodoratou and Ruth McQuillan were awarded the Team Culture Award as part of the IMPACT festival by the University of Edinburgh. This IMPACT festival celebrates and showcases the positive societal impact of its research. UNCOVER won the award as our team structure brings together researchers, students and alumni in a collaborative environment of shared learning and equity. Watch the video to learn more.
Gwenetta Curry shortlisted for the Global Women in Healthcare Awards 2024
Gwenetta was shortlisted for the inaugural Global Women in Healthcare Awards which was held in partnership with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on International Women’s Day Saturday 9th March 2024. We are very proud of Gwenetta's achievement she has worked tirelessly to raise the awareness of the impact of Race and Ethnicity on health in Scotland, the UK and globally.
UNCOVER Co-Founders Ruth McQuillan and Professor Harry Campbell Awarded MBEs in 2022
The Queen's Birthday Honours are awarded to people who have made outstanding contributions to public life. Professor Harry Campbell was awarded the MBE for "services to international child health and global public health", and Dr Ruth McQuillan for "services to science during COVID-19" in 2022. Harry and Ruth co-led UNCOVER from its creation in March 2020, with Harry passing the co-leadership to Professor Evi Theodoratou on his retirement in 2021. Their vision, energy and commitment enabled UNCOVER to provide UK and international decision-makers with trustworthy public health evidence, recognising the need to maintain quality and rigour while working pragmatically within the tight timeframes and complex questions that characterise policy- and decision-making, especially in a crisis.
Award for Outstanding Medical Librarianship to Marshall Dozier in 2022
Marshall Dozier was celebrated at the 2022 European Association of Health Information & Libraries Conference, which took place at the beginning of June. As our Information Specialist, Marshall is the linchpin that holds all of our reviews together. Without her endless patience, dedication and hard work to support the development of searches for each UNCOVER review as well the numerous students who have been supervised through UNCOVER. We have first-hand experience of just how outstanding Marshall's contribution to medical and health librarianship is, and we are delighted that her work has been justly recognised at an international level.
Emilie McSwiggan wins College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine Staff Recognition Award 2021
Emilie McSwiggan (UNCOVER Project Manager 2020 - 2024) was awarded "Excellent Newcomer" in the College of Medicine Veterinary Medicine 2021 Staff Recognition Awards. Her dedication to UNCOVER's work and community were essential in establishing UNCOVER as a successful, collaborative research group.
UNCOVER members win Usher Institute 2021 Recognition Award
UNCOVER members, Durga Kulkarni, Thulani Ashcroft, Bohee Lee, Madhurima (Rima) Nundy, Karen Hartnup, Ting Shi, Ruth McQuillan, Evropi (Evi) Theodoratou, Emma Farfan de los Godos, Eldad Agyei-Manu, Amanda Leow, Ashmika Motee, Urmila Bhattacharyya, Vaishali Vardhan and Sanaz Behnood won the 2021 Usher Institute Recognition Awards for "Most Outstanding Team". Despite being a large team they were able to successfully deliver a set of complex reviews on COVID-19 for the World Health Organisation.
