BR-UK Training: Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Intersectionality in Public Engagement

The course combines short presentations with applied activities to support you in recognising how structural inequalities and power dynamics shape research processes, and how these can be addressed through more inclusive engagement designs. The second session will take place on 27th May 2026 at 1pm.

The interactive sessions introduce core EDII principles and explore how they can be applied across the research cycle – from identifying and reaching relevant publics to designing and delivering public engagement activities. You will be guided to reflect on barriers to participation, examine biases in research design and practice, and develop a practical EDII strategy tailored to your own behavioural research project. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on reflexivity, ethical responsibility, and the realities of working with diversity and intersectionality in applied research settings.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  1. Recognise why EDII is an integral part of high-quality behavioural research.
  2. Identify and critically appraise tools and strategies for embedding EDII in behavioural research (from devising research questions to publicising the research).
  3. Apply appropriate methods to address EDII at all stages of a project focusing on behavioural research.

Please note that AI Notetakers are not permitted in this training session.

This training will be capped at 40 participants. By registering you commit to attend both training days.
