Four transatlantic projects given the green light. Four projects, on a variety of topics around ageing and health, have shared a funding pot of C$100,000. The "Innovation through Future Care Approaches in Healthy Aging” call aims to establish collaborative projects between researchers involved in AGE-WELL and ACRC. The long-term objective of these joint initiatives is to create sustainable outcomes and foster collaborations that evolve into scalable partnerships. For a project to be successful it needed to address a challenge around ageing and health, and have joint primary investigators from the ACRC and a Canadian partner university under the AGE-WELL Network. There were a number of proposals on the shortlist, but these four just pipped an incredibly high-quality field: AI in Dementia Care: Challenges and Opportunities Principal Investigators: Associate Professor Babak Taati, PhD PEng, Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto Professor Subramanian Ramamoorthy, School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh Designing digital services for new models of senior care Principal Investigators: Professor Matt Ratto, Faculty of Information, University of Toronto Professor John Vines, School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh Music-based interventions to support dementia care Principal Investigators: Professor Andrew Sixsmith, Department of Gerontology, Simon Fraser University Associate Professor Amy Clements-Cortes, Faculty of Music, University of Toronto Professor Katie Overy, Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre & Department of Psychiatry, University of Edinburgh Professor Heather Wilkinson, Professor of Dementia Practice and Partnership, Advanced Care Research Centre, University of Edinburgh Digitally Enabled Technology for Older Adults Residing in Care Homes: Toward an Evaluation Framework Principal Investigators: Professor Jeffrey Jutai, PhD, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Ottawa Professor Kathrin Cresswell, PhD, Centre for Medical Informatics, University of Edinburgh Professor Susan Shenkin, MSc, MD, Advanced Care Research Centre, University of Edinburgh Publication date 16 Sep, 2024
