Chancellor gets to grips with ACRC

Members of the ACRC presented their research to Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh, on a recent visit.

The Chancellor attend a Celebration of Nurses, Midwifes and Global Healthcare Professionals, which included the opportunity to showcase programmes associated with the School of Health in Social Science. One of those was the ACRC, and several members of the team took the opportunity to share with The Princess Royal the elements of their research, and the overriding aims and vision of the ACRC.

Imran Saied, a Research Associate in Work Package 6, Lara Johnson, Second year PhD Student with the ACRC Academy, and Lucy McCloughan, Programme Manager, were those present.

To show the Chancellor examples of our research, on display was a cushion with unobtrusive sensors, showing how we can monitor health and care with little or no impact on the older person.

The ACRC shared an exhibition space with ECRED, the Edinburgh Centre for Research on the Experience of Dementia, and it was an opportunity to foster positive relationships with other researchers covering overlapping areas.
