Effecting Change

On Wednesday night, the ALLIANCE hosted an event at the Scottish Parliament, launching the ‘Effecting Change’ report.

We were lucky enough to be in attendance.

The Effecting Change report is based on six years of work gathering examples of organisational culture change towards compassionate care. With training and programmes such as Carer’s Voices, What Matters to You and Civility Saves Lives, by 2022, over 250,000 individuals across 1,700 events have been reached.

The report itself captures the work of number of organisations that have promoted culture change towards compassionate, person-centred care.

The speakers at the event all held this theme as they spoke, with the power of individual stories threaded through them all.

Work starts with individuals, transformational change cannot happen without people at the centre – there is a need to deeply listen to each person’s own stories.

Another identifiable thread was that you cannot make change alone, but that there was a willingness for organisations to change together.

All in all, it was a very positive and uplifting event, offering hope for the future in these difficult times.
