Technopolis are undertaking the second stage of evaluation of the NCBR investment. We are pleased to invite participation in the second wave of our survey to evaluate the National Capability in Behavioural Research (NCBR). Technopolis has been commissioned to conduct this evaluation on behalf of the programme funder, ESRC. The NCBR comprises a BR-UK which is a central ‘hub’ designed to connect stakeholders and drive interdisciplinary innovation in applied behavioural research and the Centre for National Training and Research Excellence in Understanding Behaviour (Centre-UB), a Centre for Doctoral Training Plus (CDT+) that aims to build a critical mass of interdisciplinary researchers with the knowledge and skills to transform our understanding of human behaviour. Two fellows from the investments are seconded to GO-Science and Government Skills to support the achievement of these objectives. The survey is addressed to stakeholders involved and interested in the NCBR, including those involved in BR-UK and in Centre-UB, along side those working more widely on behavioural research in the UK.This follow-up survey is designed to build on the baseline assessment and deepen the understanding of the relevance, effectiveness and overall impact of the NCBR. Your responses will help develop understanding in key areas such as:The alignment of behavioural research priorities with stakeholder needs. The role of the NCBR in generating new knowledge, tools, and methods within the behavioural research field. How the NCBR has contributed to career development, research opportunities, and the broader application of behavioural research in public policy and other sectors.Responses will provide valuable insights that will help assess the importance and effectiveness of the NCBR and contribute to ESRC’s understanding of how best to support behavioural research. The survey should take about 10 minutes to complete. It will remain open until the 6th of March. If you have any further questions or need further clarification, please contact the Project Manager of this evaluation, Alessandro Sica, ncbr_evaluation@technopolis-group.com Complete the survey and read the survey’s confidentiality policy Publication date 09 Feb, 2026
