UNCOVER's work has been made possible due to a number of short-term funding awards (particularly during 2020 and 2021) and externally commissioned reviews. A full list of our external and University funding is given here. Wellcome's Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF3) UNCOVER was awarded an ISSF3 grant in 2020, which provided core funding to support UNCOVER's work producing public health evidence syntheses and maintaining our Register of Reviews. Data-Driven Innovation Programme (DDI) UNCOVER was awarded short-term funding from DDI in 2020, to stabilise the project in its early weeks, and provide a solid foundation for further growth and longer-term planning. Funding was agreed for research and administrative support, publishing and communications, and technical support, with the specific aims of: Continuing to provide public health evidence reviews to inform the response to the COVID-19 pandemic; Ensuring that reviews are robust and of good quality; and Ensuring there is staff and student capacity to conduct reviews within appropriate timeframes. University of Edinburgh: Principal's Teaching Award Scheme (PTAS) UNCOVER was awarded a PTAS grant in January 2021, focused on developing UNCOVER's staff-student working model. The grant had two main aims: To explore how we can integrate UNCOVER’s working model with dissertations and projects by piloting approaches within relevant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and To work together with students to identify desired skills and attributes, and to co-create a development pathway for current and new students who become involved with UNCOVER. Find out more about UNCOVER's PTAS project on our dedicated page. Data-Driven Innovation Programme (DDI) UNCOVER was awarded additional short-term funding from DDI in April 2021. This enabled UNCOVER's first internship scheme to be set up, creating opportunities for our most experienced student volunteers to take their skills to another level as reviewers, mentors and project coordinators, and enabling UNCOVER to pilot working relationships with external partners. World Health Organisation UNCOVER was commissioned by the World Health Organisation to produce weekly living reviews on the relationship between COVID-19, influenza and RSV, and a range of rapid reviews on subjects related to COVID-19, influenza and RSV. University of Edinburgh: Student Partnership Agreement (SPA) grants UNCOVER student members, Nadege Atkins and Emma Farfan de los Godos, were awarded small grants from the Student Partnership Agreement for collaborative projects related to UNCOVER. Nadege developed a series of UNCOVER podcasts with fellow students Eldad Agyei-Manu and Udani de Silva, and Emma designed UNCOVER's community hub, alongside fellow student Kirsten Duggan. Scottish Government COVID-19 Learning & Evaluation Oversight Group UNCOVER received funding in 2022 to produce an international comparison of socioeconomic recovery strategies from COVID-19. Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry UNCOVER was commissioned by the Scottish COVID-19 Inquiry to produce introductory academic research on the Scottish public sector response to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the periods 2020-21 and 2022. DiaDev UNCOVER collaborated with researchers from the DiaDev group within the University of Edinburgh to produce a qualitative systematic review of point-of-care testing options in lower- and middle-income countries (LMICs). DiaDev is funded by the European Research Council under the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 715450. This article was published on 2024-09-24
