Using Behavioural Insights to Shift Employer Behaviour

The Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (Acas) is an arms’ length body sponsored by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT). ACAS aims to improve organisations and working life through better employment relationships, and provides a range of impartial services, including a dispute resolution service for both collective and individual disputes.

Behavioural Research UK  invites researchers to a webinar introducing Acas’s new Behavioural Insights (BI) model and toolkit. The session is aimed at potential collaborators interested in using the toolkit to trial and evaluate interventions that encourage positive employer behaviour.

Developed from primary and secondary research, the toolkit identifies:

  • 13 key employer behaviours linked to preventing disputes
  • The drivers and barriers for each behaviour
  • How behaviours vary by sector and employer size

The webinar will explain the model and describe how Acas can support proposals and integrate findings into policy guidance. While Acas cannot provide direct funding, it can offer endorsement, advisory input and routes to demonstrating policy impact.  BR-UK will also share links to existing UKRI funding opportunities.

Chair: Professor Linda Bauld, BR-UK Director

Speakers: Dr Annette Cox is Head of Research, Policy and Guidance, Acas and Dr Leah Culhane, Senior Research Officer, Research, Analysis and Insight Team, Acas.
