Lecturer in Social Science and Medicine Biography Image Chase is a Lecturer in Social Science and Medicine at Usher Institute. His research explores the sociology and history of HIV/STI prevention and innovation, critical and queer public health, and the sociology of health activism. His previous research has explored: temporal legacies of AIDS in contemporary hook-up apps (external site) HIV health promotion during COVID-19 (external site) changes in gay male sexual practices during COVID-19 (external site) Chase was previously an Interdisciplinary Research Fellow as part of CBSS's Beyond Engagement theme. His current work explores the sociology of DoxyPEP in the UK, queer approaches to evidence-based medicine, and the role of social imaginaries as methodologies for public health research. Chase is an editorial board member for Psychology & Sexuality. He runs regular community workshops in Edinburgh and Glasgow on sexual and queer activism, advocacy, and health education.
