Visiting Research Fellow Biography Hiroto Shimizu an Overseas Visiting Research Fellow as part of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) programme. Previously, Hiroto completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Ryukoku University during which he held a visiting position at Cardiff University School of Social Sciences. As a medical sociologist, Hiroto is broadly concerned with medicalisation and psychiatry. His current project based on fieldwork and text analysis explores experiences of depression in Japan and the United Kingdom.
