PhD candidate in Edinburgh Law School Biography Image Rebecca Richards is a PhD candidate in Edinburgh Law School. She completed her undergraduate degrees at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and her Masters in the PPE of Health at UCL. She is particularly interested in issues of global health justice, global health ethics, global health emergencies, and structural injustices. She is the executive producer for the upcoming CBSS ‘Beyond Global Health’ podcast and the Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Mason Institute PhD Research Group open to CBSS bioethics students. She has previously produced the ‘Just Emergencies’ podcast as part of Dr. Ganguli-Mitra’s Wellcome Trust Seed Award Project. Research Rebecca's PhD research examines what obligations Global North countries have to ameliorate Global South healthcare professional shortages during Global Health Emergencies. Drawing on critical political philosophy, decolonial, and global justice literature, Rebecca aims to reconceptualise Global South healthcare professional shortages as an example of a structural injustice resulting from - in large part - Global North actions.
