Animal Models in Acute Care Research Prof Eddie Clutton is Academic Head of Veterinary Anaesthesia at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and the Roslin Institute, where he is also Director of the Wellcome Trust Critical Care Laboratory for Large Animals. This facility provides an environment where – after Animal Welfare and Ethical Review Board and Home Office approval - multidisciplinary medical research teams are able to use large animal models to test a range of potential therapies before final translation into human patients. His research interests include animal welfare, bioethics and experimental refinement.
