Background

Dr Griffith completed an MD in 2014 at Edinburgh University.  His work was focussed on the prevalence of systemic inflammation after critical illness, and its relationship to physical recovery. Working in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, he has been a local investigator on numerous international intensive care trials.

Research Overview

David’s research focus is on clinical research in the Critical Care and Perioperative setting.  David has made contributions to our understanding of physical weakness and recovery from critical illness. He is leading research aiming exploring the use of biomarkers for Acute Kidney Injury following fractured neck of femur.  David is also part of collaboration exploring the role of innate immunity in the pathogenesis of ARDS and COVID-19.  David is the Programme Director (Academic) for the MSc in Critical Care.
