Background

Annemarie graduated from Bristol University in 2003 and trained in the South West, London and Wessex before moving to Edinburgh in 2009. She undertook a Masters in Public Health (MPH) 2013-14, and a PhD (2014-2017) examining optimal care practices for patients who are admitted to ICU with pre-existing cardiovascular disease. She was an ECAT SCREDS Clinical Lecturer until she finished her joint training in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia.

Research

Annemarie leads ICU-HEART (https://icuheart.org). This multi-specialty collaboration aims to improve outcomes for critically ill patients with co-existing cardiovascular disease using routine national healthcare data in Scotland and England to identify and characterise critically ill patients with co-existing cardiovascular disease. Since the arrival of COVID-19 in the UK, she has led the data analysis for the ISARIC-4C CCP-UK consortium.
