Following this I completed a PhD at the MRC Human Genetics Unit and went onto work as a post doc in various departments at the University. I then moved into the field of clinical research and have experience of working in both commercial and academic environments. I joined the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit as a Trial Manager in 2007. I first became involved in Critical Care research in 2009 when I joined Tim Walsh and his team to work on the RELIEVE study, a feasibility study looking at transfusion triggers. Research I am currently the trial manager for the A2B Trial, an ICU sedation study, to investigate whether Alpha 2 agonists for sedation lead to better outcomes from critical illness.
