She will use routine national healthcare data in Scotland and England to identify and characterise critically ill patients with co-existing cardiovascular disease. Using machine learning techniques, she will explore different healthcare phenotypes, and identify groups of patients who may benefit from an intervention to improve myocardial oxygen-supply demand imbalance. She will study adaptive trial design methodology, looking at the use of continuous "vital signs" monitoring as an intermediate outcome.
