The Clinical Trials Strategy, underpinned by the University of Edinburgh’s Research Strategies, aims to prioritise the purpose and core expertise of the Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit in our pursuit to develop, design and deliver world-class clinical trials.

Supporting Trials

ECTU is able to offer support at all stages of the development and progress of a clinical trial from trial planning to trial delivery and reporting.  Support is also available for other research designs.

Clinical Trials Methodology

The ECTU medical statistics, trial management, health economics and IT specialist teams also engage in clinical trials methodology research which aims to improve the quality and efficiency of trial design, analysis, conduct and reporting.

Data Linkage

With the support of NHS Lothian Analytical Services and NHS Lothian eHealth the ECTU Data Linkage Service has identified and acquired for research use a number of NHS Lothian held datasets.

Health Economics

ECTU has a team of health economics who can advise on the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of studies.
