Lunch and Learn

The Edinburgh Clinical Trials Unit holds informal ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions (previously called Journal Club) to enable staff members to keep up to date with the literature around clinical trial methodology.

It also helps build up debate about good, evidence based practice and in developing ideas for research, especially Studies Within a Trial (SWAT).

Aims

  • Continuing professional development
  • Keeping up-to-date with the literature around clinical trial methodology
  • Disseminating information on and build up debate about good practice
  • Ensuring that professional practice is evidence-based
  • Learning and practising critical appraisal skills
  • Developing ideas for research, descriptions of good practice within the unit that could be presented at meetings and/or submitted for publication
  • Providing an enjoyable educational and social occasion
