MOTION

For patients <60 years with moderate-severe medial compartment osteoarthritis (OA), there is uncertainty regarding the most effective treatment (surgical management with HTO or non-surgical management with structured physiotherapy), as arthroplasty in these patients is associated with a comparatively poor outcome.

This trial will compare the clinical and cost-effectiveness of HTO with structured Personalised Knee Therapy (PKT) in patients <60 years with symptomatic medial compartment knee OA.

What is the clinical-effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of surgery with medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) compared with non-surgical treatment in the management of osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee in patients younger than 50 years?
