GEM

A multidisciplinary human study on the genetic, environmental and microbial interactions that cause inflammatory bowel disease

The GEM Project is a prospective cohort study assessing healthy siblings or children (aged 6-35 years of age) of people diagnosed with Crohn’s disease.  The objective is to recruit a cohort of 5000 of these high-risk individuals to find the causes or triggers of Crohn’s disease by determining why some first degree relatives develop the disease, while others do not.
