Congratulations to PhD students Mohammad Al Sallakh, Tracy Jackson and Eleftheria Vasileiou on their recent graduations! Both Tracy and Eleftheria graduated from the University of Edinburgh on 6 July, with Mohammad graduating from Swansea University on 22 July. Mohammad Al Sallakh Based at Swansea University, Mohammad’s PhD project was creating and utilising a Wales Asthma Observatory to support health policy, health service planning and clinical research. Mohammad is currently working as a postdoc in EHR-based asthma, respiratory and critical care research at Swansea University Medical School. He’s also working towards obtaining a national research fellowship. Find out more about Mohammad’s research Tracy Jackson Tracy’s PhD investigated the impact of financial incentives on the implementation of asthma self-management. We are delighted that Tracy has chosen to take on a Research Fellow position at the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research, focusing on Patient and Public Involvement. In addition to her role at the Centre, she is also the PPI Research Fellow at the NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Respiratory Health (RESPIRE). Find out more about Tracy’s PhD research Eleftheria Vasileiou Eleftheria’s PhD project was evaluating the influenza vaccine programme for people with asthma, by measuring vaccine uptake and effectiveness in people with asthma. Eleftheria is now working as an Information Analyst in the Consultancy Service of the Information Services Division of National Services Scotland (NSS). Her role involves the provision of information and delivery of analytical solutions for various public stakeholders. Her career goal is to work as an epidemiologist on infectious diseases either in the public sector and/or academia, preferably working on projects which are using large linked databases of electronic health records (EHR) to conduct observational epidemiological studies on topics related to infectious diseases.
