Members presented at the Pioneering Partnership 2020 event on how the Centre implemented the Governance Standard of the NIHR UK Standards for Public Involvement As part of this week’s Pioneering Partnerships 2020 event, members from the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research will present on how the Centre implemented the Governance Standard of the NIHR UK Standards for Public Involvement. Dr Tracy Jackson, Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Research Fellow, alongside Noelle Morgan, a member of the Centre’s PPI group, will share their experience of implementing the standard and will advise others on how they can do the same. Educational Experience for Researchers Pioneering Partnerships is an annual event organised by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC) and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The event aims to: empower and equip researchers with tools and the confidence to deliver patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) activities explore the role of the research sector in imbedding PPIE showcase examples of best practice across various research environments An Example of Best Practice Tracy and Noelle will be describing the Centre’s experience of implementing the Governance Standard of the NIHR UK Standards for Public Involvement in Research. This comprises of how the Centre involves patients and the public in all levels of research, including management, regulation, leadership and decision-making. Tracy and Noelle said: "We were delighted to be asked to contribute to the Pioneering Partnerships event and share our experiences of implementing the Governance Standard from the NIHR UK Standards for Public Involvement in Research in our Centre. It will be a great event and an excellent opportunity to meet, and learn from, other people from across the UK who are committed to meaningfully involving patient and public members as colleagues in research."
