Dr Jessica Sheringham gains NIHR Population Health Career Scientist Fellowship Award Congratulations go to Dr Jessica Sheringham on being awarded a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Population Health Career Scientist Fellowship Award! Jessica’s fellowship seeks to understand and evaluate how sharing information between the NHS and housing providers can help reduce health inequalities linked with housing. This fellowship is awarded to emerging leaders in research based in the UK who are focussed on the wider determinants of health. This means the fellows typically collaborate with services outside of NHS settings, but their research has a health-related impact. The overall aim of the fellowship is to foster greater links between research and practice. Their work will help policymakers and services to answer important research questions and change practice.IMP2ART ProgrammeJessica is based at UCL and the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North Thames. She works on the IMP2ART (IMPlementing IMProved Asthma self-management as RouTine) Programme, and co-leads the process evaluation. This means she is determining whether the activities in the programme are implemented as intended and to help understand the trial findings.Career DevelopmentAlongside the research, a Population Health Career Scientist Award provides Jessica with the opportunity to further develop collaborations with local authorities, NHS and wider partners, and to undertake an exciting programme of career development.Jessica’s fellowship will start in September 2024.Jessica said: I am really excited by the opportunities offered by this fellowship. We know that housing can have a major effect on health but it’s less clear what can be done to help. I’m excited to have the opportunity to contribute to this important area of research. Working on IMP2ART has been very helpful in preparing me for the fellowship in many ways, such as helping me to build skills in evaluation.Dr Jessica SheringhamFind out about the IMP2ART programme Tags 2024 Publication date 19 Feb, 2024
