These awards will recognise the contribution and impact made by Centre members from over our 10 years.OverviewThe Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research Recognition Awards are presented in 5 categoriesA voucher and certificate are awarded for each categoryEach category to have a winner and a runner upNominations are considered jointly by Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh and Professor Chris Griffiths - the Centre Directors, Sam Walker - the Director of Research at Asthma + Lung UK, and Professor Carlos Camargo, Member of the Centre’s International Advisory BoardThe awards are open to all members of the Centre who have been, or still are involved in the work of the CentreNominations can cover any period of the work in the Centre, from 2014 to 2024The awards can be for an individual or team – this is detailed in the category description belowNominations can be made by anyone with a connection to the CentreAwards categoriesOutstanding contribution to asthma researchThis award recognises an individual or team for an exceptional contribution to the field of applied asthma research. This award will recognise research which uses innovative methodologies, meaningful involvement of patients and the public, and has created real external impact.Outstanding impact from the Postgraduate PlatformThis award recognises a PhD or MD student, Early Career Researcher or person from the Postgraduate Platform leadership who has created exceptional impact in their research study or in the leadership within the Postgraduate Platform.Excellence in meaningful patient and public involvementThis award recognises an individual or team for implementing culture change to embed truly meaningful patient and public involvement (PPI) into applied asthma research. A successful candidate will ensure meaningful PPI is established and involved throughout the research cycle.Most effective collaborationThis award recognises an individual or team for effective collaboration in and between research. Panellists will consider collaborations with people with asthma, clinicians, policymakers, charities, industry and any other stakeholders.Directors’ special recognition award (Note: will not be included in the nomination form.)This award recognises an individual or team which the Directors believe has had a powerful impact on the Centre’s work.
