Tsz-Yan Milly Lo

Milly is EPIC's Project Co-Lead, Honorary Reader and Consultant Paediatric Intensivist.

I am medical specialist (consultant) in paediatric (children’s) intensive care medicine and a clinical academic. For over 20 years, I have worked with colleagues from different science and clinical disciplines to use real-world clinical ‘big’ data to drive improvements and innovations in patient care in paediatric emergency and critical care. This includes using bedside physiology data like heart rate, blood pressure, and brainwaves (EEG) for research and innovation development.

I have successfully set up and am leading international interdisciplinary translational research groups (KidsBrainIT and Global Window-in-the-Brain) for brain trauma and brainwaves-based innovation research. Our research group members are based in children’s hospitals from 10 different countries including the UK, European and Lower-Middle-Income Countries. I love working in ‘Team Science’ which includes patients and their families.

EPIC is Team Science at its best and I am excited to be EPIC’s capacity/next step lead to nourish future researcher workforce and to drive the next step for worldwide testing and future adoption.
