An educational event for general practitioners was successfully held in December as part of a RESPIRE project being led by the Rural Unit for Health and Social Affairs (RUHSA), Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore. 80 general practitioners attended the educational event on chronic respiratory disease, hosted by the RUHSA as part of a community-based chronic respiratory disease intervention project. Read more about the project “The need of the hour” Image Held in December, the one-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) event focused on the “Challenges of Managing Chronic Lung Disease in General Practice”. General practitioners in attendance came from both public and private sector health care institutions and clinics, from across the Vellore district. It was notable that participants recognised this example of training on chronic respiratory disease as one of the most pressing needs in general practice. Sessions covered chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and COPD, including a particularly engaging panel discussion on the diagnostic confusion between COPD, asthma and occupation-related lung disease. There was also a demonstration session featuring several portable devices to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of chronic lung diseases. Publication date 06 Feb, 2020
