This project is based at CMC in India.

Overview

Project title: Scoping review for toolkit development to improve health systems for climate change and health (respiratory) in lower- and middle-income countries

Programme: Climate & Health

Based at: Christian Medical College Vellore, India

Start date: 01 April 2024

End date:

Principal investigator: Biswajit Paul

Background

There is an urgent need for health providers to respond to climate change related respiratory health issues, especially in low- and middle-income countries. Due to limited education around climate change in mainstream health professional curriculums, health care professionals lack the knowledge and skills to recognise, prepare for, and respond to current and future climate-related health system threats.

Aim and Impact

This scoping review will investigate frameworks that health professionals and health systems can use to respond to and mitigate health effects due to climate change, providing a scope for the knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to build capacity and resilience.
