Background

Asthma affects 100 million people in Southeast Asia. Investing in asthma care through evidence-based interventions is an important health strategy for reducing associated morbidity and mortality.

This programme of work, known as the Asthma: Revitalising Asthma Care and Treatment (RESPIRE-ReACT) programme builds on work completed in the first phase of RESPIRE, which involved systematic reviews, qualitative studies, intervention development and feasibility testing.

This study uses a mixed-methods approach (uptake and asthma control; stakeholder perceptions) to implement and evaluate school-based interventions in five partner centres across four countries (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Pakistan).

Aim and Impact

AdAPT will generate evidence that will be widely applicable across other South and South-East Asian settings.

The RESPIRE-ReACT programme will inform the delivery of asthma care in primary care settings, and implement innovative school-based interventions. Partnership with stakeholders will ensure evidence is directly relevant to local policymakers.
