Leads: Savithri Wimalasekera, University of Sri Jayewardenepura & Linda Bauld, University of Edinburgh About Programme 3: Preventable Risk Factors This programme of work focuses on the primary prevention of risk factors for respiratory conditions - including tobacco smoking and exposure to poor air quality - which are estimated to underlie many million deaths globally each year. The projects in this area are focusing on the development of: an air pollution ‘early warning system’ to help those with respiratory conditions to take actions to improve their health and quality of life an intervention to assist TB patients, who are most adversely impacted, to quit smoking and improve their health.
