A part-time PhD student in the Usher Institute and co-supervised by Tim Walsh, Professor of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, Claire is funded through a Chief Scientist Office (CSO) Innovation Fellowship as part of a wider Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) innovation programme.

Her award recognises her transformative work in respiratory care across Scotland, where she has developed a pioneering, data-driven service that helps people with COPD live well at home - reducing hospital admissions and improving quality of life.

Scotland’s Health Awards 2025 took place at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Thursday 06 November, celebrating the outstanding dedication and compassion of health and care professionals across the country.
