Groups within the Centre for Medical Informatics work across a variety of key areas. Current key groups led by members of the Centre for Medical Informatics include: Behavioural AI lab Led by Luciana D'Adderio, the Behavioural AI lab's research aims to identify and map the effects of Al/ML technologies on healthcare practice, practitioners and organisations. They draw on validated Organizational Management and related sociotechnical methodologies to undertake studies of healthcare Al/ML in context. Computational Medicine Led by Miguel O. Bernabeu, the Computational Medicine Group's research concerns the development of computational approaches capable of answering open questions in biomedicine and healthcare. They work closely with biologists, clinicians, and industry in problems of high relevance in both basic and clinical research. Data Analytics Research and Technology in Healthcare (DARTH) Led by Thanasis Tsanas, the DARTH group is a dynamic research group working at the interface of engineering, mathematics, informatics, and medicine. ICU HEART Led by Annemarie Docherty, the ICU HEART group's vision is to use routine healthcare data to improve outcomes for critically ill patients with co-existing cardiovascular disease. Surgical and Critical Care Informatics Led by Ewen Harrison, the Surgical and Critial Care Informatics group seeks to ensure better surgical and critical care through data and technology. Surgical Sabermetrics Laboratory (SaberLab) Led by Steven Yule, the SaberLab team work at the intersection of surgery, technology, and behavioural science.
