Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain is a vibrant multidisciplinary research group which takes the broadest possible approach to improving patient outcomes. Their research spans a wide range of clinical specialties, disciplines, departments and research institutes and benefits from being embedded in the world class biomedical research environment provided by the University of Edinburgh. The principal research interests of the department include:

  • Respiratory studies in anaesthesia
  • Studies of postoperative analgesia
  • Cognitive and neurological decline associated with cardiac surgery
  • Clinical studies of new anaesthetic agents
  • Associated drugs epidemiology of anaesthesia
