The Marjorie Bowman and Robert Choplin New Investigator Award honours an early-career researcher whose programme of work demonstrates exceptional originality, scholarly excellence, and clear potential for lasting impact on primary care.

Clare MacRae, Senior Clinical Research Fellow - the first recipient of this award from outside North America - accepted the honour during the NAPCRG Annual Meeting, held this year at the Hyatt Regency in Atlanta, Georgia.

Clare’s work focuses on understanding wider socioeconomic determinants of multiple long-term conditions, specifically considering the importance of the households and neighbourhoods in which people live. She recently completed her PhD at the Advanced Care Research Centre, where she was supervised by Professors Bruce Guthrie, Stewart Mercer and Nazir Lone.

NAPCRG is the world’s largest organisation dedicated to research in family medicine, primary care, and related disciplines - including epidemiology, behavioural sciences, and health services research. Its annual awards recognise outstanding contributions that advance the global impact of primary care research.
