RESPIRE reflected in "300 Faces of Edinburgh Medical School"

A selection of RESPIRE members have been highlighted as part of the 300th anniversary of the medical school.

2026 marks the 300th year of the Edinburgh Medical School (EMS). As part of its celebrations, the EMS-300 team have published a website and physical exhibit, drawing attention to people who have made an inspirational contribution to Edinburgh Medical School.

The faces include remarkable historical figures including author Arthur Conan Doyle, evolutionary biologist Charles Darwin, doctor Elsie Inglis, embryologist Ian Wilmut, as well as public health advisor Judith Mackay who is the generous benefactor of RESPIRE's Mackay Capacity Building Fund for Global Public Health Research and Advocacy.

The 300 faces represent who we are, where we’ve come from and where we are going. They honour and reflect the people who have shaped our shared 300-year history and highlight those who are powerful advocates for the future of medicine at Edinburgh.

Congratulations to our RESPIRE colleagues below, who were selected to be represented in this exhibit!

Not all profiles have been published to date, but you can browse the full list of faces on the EMS-300 website:
