Farewell to Sir Aziz Sheikh as Director Today, we celebrate Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh OBE, who this year stepped down from his role as Director of the Usher Institute to begin an exciting new role at the University of Oxford. During his time as Director Aziz played a transformative role in driving our mission to advance health and wellbeing through data-led research, interdisciplinary partnerships, and a shared commitment to impactful outcomes. In recognition of his contributions to health research, he was also recently elected to the prestigious National Academy of Medicine in the US - a fitting testament to his influential work and dedication. This past August, the Usher community gathered at the Usher Forum to bid Aziz a warm farewell, with colleagues, students, and friends coming together to share stories, express gratitude, and reflect on the many milestones achieved under his leadership. It was a heartfelt send-off for a visionary leader whose impact will continue to be felt in our Institute for years to come.More informationProfessor Sir Aziz Sheikh announces move to OxfordFarewell to Professor Sir Aziz Sheikh OBEProfessor Sir Aziz Sheikh elected to the National Academy of Medicine Aziz cutting his farewell cake at the June 2024 Usher Forum | Image credit Sarah Murray Aziz addressing his colleagues during the June 2024 Usher Forum | Image credit Julie Jacko This article was published on 2024-11-26
