RESPIRE aims to reduce the number of deaths and wider health and societal impacts from respiratory diseases in Asia.
Co-led by the University of Edinburgh and Universiti Malaya, RESPIRE partners based in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the UK collaborate to deliver low-cost, scalable policy and clinical interventions to reduce respiratory disease and death in Asia.
RESPIRE’s projects are thematically grouped into three programmes of research – infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases and preventable risk factors – while its supporting platforms increase the ability of RESPIRE's partners to plan, undertake and implement the findings of research within their unique contexts:
- Platform I: Stakeholder Engagement & Community Engagement and Involvement
- Platform II: Capacity Building, Education & Training
- Platform III: Open Science, Data & Methodologies
- Platform IV: Digital Health and Innovation
RESPIRE's Knowledge Mobilisation Hub complements the activities of the programmes and platforms, and touches on wider topics such as Universal Health Coverage, gender inequalities and climate change.
