Celebrate our Usher community This year has been a fantastic one for building community, especially as we’ve come together in our beautiful new space within the Usher Building. While many of us have worked alongside each other for years, this is the first time we’re all under one roof, making 2024 the perfect year to focus on strengthening face-to-face connections and easing back into office life. Some of the standout events this year have included a cheese tasting, a Go Ape adventure in Dalkeith, the Usher Olympics, and, of course, book club! We’ve also worked hard to make fitness more accessible, recognising how tricky it can be to fit into busy schedules. Alongside our regular yoga classes, we were excited to offer a Zumba class this year – and there’s even more to come in 2025!It’s been a joy to welcome our on-campus Masters in Public Health students into the building this year, and we’ve loved seeing them become more immersed in our work, values and community. The course launch was marked with a welcome week, which included a collaborative painting canvas that now proudly hangs in one of the Institute’s beautiful winter gardens. Our vibrant community is supported by a dedicated committee of volunteers, whose hard work ensures there are plenty of opportunities to connect. Together, we’ve made the Usher Building not just a place to work, but a place to belong too.
