Researchers from the Usher Institute have been busy sharing science with the public in a variety of recent public engagement events. Game On Image Students taking part in the Game On workshop with Dr Areti Manataki Dr Areti Manataki visited the WHALE arts centre with an engaging, interactive coding activity as part of the Explorathon in Edinburgh, and ran her Game On coding workshop as part of the Midlothian Science Festival. Both events were well attended, with over 200 people taking part. Edinburgh Explorathon website Midlothian Science Festival website Our Dynamic Earth Image Professor Hilary Pinnock and Tracy Jackson at the event with members of the public Members of the Asthma UK Centre for Applied Research visited Our Dynamic Earth with an interactive activity to raise awareness of air pollution and lung health, alongside researchers from NERC Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. Using peak flow meters, members of the public could test their lung function and plot their own measurements on a chart, while learning about factors which might affect the results - including asthma.
