Jeni Harden earns double honours

Congratulations to Jeni Harden for receiving both Chancellor’s Award and Clinical Educator Programme's Alistair Dewar Award

The University of Edinburgh's Chancellor's Award for Teaching

The University of Edinburgh has acknowledged the outstanding achievements of four exemplary staff members through this year's prestigious Chancellor’s Awards. Among the recipients, Jeni Harden was honoured for her exceptional contributions to teaching, receiving the Chancellor’s Award for Teaching. Her recognition stems from efforts to developing innovative approaches to student learning, empowering students as educators, and contributing on a national and international scale to curriculum development in social and behavioural sciences in medicine.

The Chancellor’s Awards celebrate staff excellence in teaching, research, outstanding contribution, and early career potential. Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and Deputy Lieutenant Dame Sue Bruce extended their congratulations to all award winners at a ceremony held at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Clinical Educator Programme's Teaching Award

Jeni’s achievements were further acknowledged at the Clinical Educator Programme's Teaching Awards 2023. The Alistair Dewar Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching was presented to Jeni at the Clinical Educator Programme Annual Symposium held at the Chancellor’s Building, BioQuarter.

Open to nominations from individuals or teams within Edinburgh Medical School or the Southeast Deanery of Scotland, this award recognises those who go above and beyond in the realm of medical education.

I am honoured to receive this prestigious award for teaching. I work with wonderful academic and professional services colleagues at the University and I am privileged to share my teaching journey with students who constantly surprise and inspire me.

I am also delighted to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Teaching 2023 from the Clinical Educator Programme - it is so heartwarming to feel that my work is recognised not only by colleagues but also by students, whose nominations nearly made me cry (in a good way!).
